I could easily live with just One15s though. Geithains for production mojo/tracking and for "feeling" the big PA bass effect, and Amphion for super focused mixdown. I use 922 as sort of "full range" mains (almost, its 3db at 30Hz) enough for my edm bass music, and the One18 as nearfields. They work great together, and contribute their own thing to the big picture.īoth are incredible speakers in their own right, that have really helped me take my critical listening to a level that I didn't realize existed!Agree. If it helps, I have both Geithain RL944Ks and Amphion One18s, and I couldn't be happier with both. The design incorporates a zipped cable area on the top with an Astroboard base to prevent the cables damaging the top of the loudspeakers.Ĭarring handles are included - these incorporate side handles and a padded top handle.

Extra foam cushions are on the front and rear internal panels to protect the drivers and rear amplifier. These cushion the monitor and the tough Astroboard minimises any damage due to knocks, etc. The SLB 944K is an optional carrying bag, specially designed for the RL 944K for ease of movement for the studio that needs to carry the RL 944K to location, to give maximum protection at an affordable price.Ĭonstruction is a tough 2-layer fabric sandwiching an Astroboard sheet (outer) and tough foam (inner). I use KTS - I tell them what I want and they come up with the bags. If they don't do a bag, then go to a specialist manufacture and get one made. I guess these aspects can be learned but it will never be as accurate as a speaker that provides the correct balance regarding these qualities in the first place.Hi Audiovisjon,Īny plans to review Genelec 8351A? I would really like to know your opinion about these coaxial speakers and also your thoughts about their SAM room correction technology compared to your Trinov.Īny of the One15 users knows about any kind of bag to transport which fit them ala Genelec or Focal ones?First - ask Amphion. The mix I did on the Genelecs turned out pretty good but overall it was to wet and too bright when listening on other systems. The point was to learn what to expect of improvement when spending 4-5 times more on a set of speakers.

I think they are priced very correctly according to the performance and I would not hesitate to recommend them for use in a budget studio.Īll of these opinions is based on my experience with five times more expensive monitors and are not meant to drag the 8000 series down at all. They have good options for eq calibration in less than ideal rooms which the high end models often don't provide. The balance between 2d and 3d is too 2d in my opinion and not true to the source imaging vise. They have very low distortion but I also noticed that they did not reveal subtle distortion artifacts as clearly as I would want. They actually sound pretty detailed and focused in my room but when I started mixing with them the headroom for mix decisions, eq, compression, pan etc was too big and subtle adjustments was definitely harder to hear as clearly as I can on the higher end models. They have great extension both ways and can play very loud for the size. The Genelecs are great monitors for the money but in comparison with the higher end speakers they are too forgiving to my ears.
